VHS & MMM partner to operate a Cardiac facility at Tharamani !

VHS and MMM have established a Cardiac facility for investigation and consultation. The building which exclusively houses the facility is set up at VHS Tharamani. It is staffed by doctors and paramedics from MMM and has an ICU facility . The facility will be operational from Monday, 16th May ’22.

Studies have shown that the risk of cardiovascular diseases is set to increase in urban and rural population in Tamil Nadu in the future as all the risk factors for CV diseases such as lipids, hypertension and dysglycemia (diabetes and pre-diabetes) have increased considerably in the population.

“With Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) becoming the leading cause of mortality in India the need for cardiac care in Chennai is rapidly growing and we decided that establishing a facility was a way to get our expertise reach other parts of the city. For MMM, this relationship with VHS helps us reach out to the community in other areas of the city and provide access to those who cannot get the best-in-class care we provide,” said M.M. Philip, Hon. Secretary, Madras Medical Mission.

“The doctors and paramedic staff at this facility are MMM staff who are being seconded here periodically. They will have direct contact with the cardiac specialists of MMM on whose advice, advanced patient management will be done here or, if further treatment is required, the patient will be moved to MMM in Mogappair,” said Dr. Ajit Mullasari, Director – Cardiology, Madras Medical Mission.

The speciality OPD block will be inaugurated tomorrow, 14th May ‘22, by the President of VHS, Shri N. Gopalaswami, IAS (rtd). The VHS MMM Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases will be inaugurated by the Managing Trustee of VHS Shri R. Rajagopal in the presence of Prof. Suresh, Hony Secretary VHS and the guest of honour, Mr. MM Philip, Hony Secretary, MMM.
